Discovering the world is what Baby Einstein has always been about. This past March, we decided to take parents and babies on a new cultural journey with the release of our World Music DVD and CD. People seemed to love this adventure so much that we wanted to tell you a little more about World Music.
The World Music DVD is hosted by one of our favorite puppets, Jane the Monkey. Her musical travels span the seven continents and incorporate what we think of as the best of Baby Einstein—fascinating baby-friendly footage, people and cultures from every continent, entertaining songs and dances, colorful indigenous toys, and fun (and sometimes silly) puppet shows.
To deliver this great global experience, we selected images from around the world that were shot up close in the same manner as a babies view their surroundings. Then our resident music fanatics (Baby Einstein’s Director of Production and our Music Box Orchestra composer, Bill Weisbach) researched traditional songs that best represented regions of each country and worked together to translate the distinct rhythms, tempos, and beats into music friendly to young ears.
At the moment, our favorite song is currently “Golden Trompong,” but then again, last week our favorite was ”Pirulito”— it’s so hard to choose! What is your favorite World Music song?
