Your videos were an excellent part of our newborn's early education. She's 7 now and in an accelerated program. You owe apologies -- and refunds -- to no one.

My husband is quite ill, has been in the hospita for 2 months now. As pre-occupied as I am, I just had to speak up and 'defend' your product.
My sister notified me of 'the refund available' for all Baby Einstein DVDs/videos. I replied to her email stating: "I am actually one of the Baby Einstein fans. I swear by them! I think they are a wonderful teaching tool (as are your books and cards!!)- they are the root of Katerina's (our 4 1/2 year old daughter's) level of intelligence. Truly. She began to learn about the planets, art, musicians/music (classical), seasons, numbers, animals and their sounds (and where in the world they live), shapes, ALL the musical instruments she knows, she picked up from their tapes... I may have taken things to the next level, but, Baby Einstein gave me the point in the right direction. Katerina still asks to see them a number of times a week. I must admit, I do have them hidden. There are only a handful of them which I continue to show her. I have always said: Baby Einstein (or any TV for that matter) is not intended to be a babysitter. If the parent sits, and uses them appropriately, as with any program, children can learn so much more!"
Keep doing what you do best!!!

i am so disappointed to hear this news...

Please stop showing Baby Einstein to your kids. Do the research -- University of Washing did and they discovered that watching these DVDs inhibited language development. The Amercian Academy of Pediatrics recommends no screen time for kids under the age of two for a reason! Turn off the screen and play with your kids -- it's the best way to help your child. Disney is all about making money, they're not in this to help our children.

I have purchased many Baby Einstein DVDs, CDs and other toy products for my daughter. She has loved and enjoyed every single one. The music, colors and animals have made such an impression on her. She is now 20 months and still giggles when I play one for her. Although I never intended for her to learn from the DVDs, she actually learned sign language from the "my first signs" video. We love your products and will continue to buy them. If people don't like them, then they don't have to buy them. It is too bad that sometimes "free country" means that people sometimes take advantage of their right to talk and try to derail what they don't like. I certainly hope you weather this unpleasant storm.

Children from my daycare participated in the filming of educational videos in the mid-90's. We then used the videos in conjunction with teacher interaction and saw marked improvement in language skills development in the boys and an increase in curiosity in the girls. As a mother I am proud to say my daughters are both now certified teachers. Baby Einstein product made learning fun. My three year old grandson is reading fluently and loves numbers and explores advanced concepts all of the time. Over the past two decades I have defended educational products when used with the proper adult interaction and will continue to do so. I think it is shameful to ask for a refund that has yielded such phenomenal results. When used as advised I believe these products are great and enhance a child's visual and auditory discrimination skills. I think the proof is in the pudding. Its too bad that some parents think you can buy a video and expect it to babysit your child (teaching them in the process).

My now 4 year old daughter has been a fan from about 6 mo. I love the movies, cd's, and toys! my now 6 month old will watch, play, and listen also! The videos were a great source for my daughter to be introduced to words, colors, and sounds, and it was a great tool for me to teacher her some sign language! Thank you for great products and i will also not be returning my videos but using them for my new baby!

Susan Linn needs to get her head examined. I let my 3 month old watch and she has since she was a month old. Sometimes mom's just need a little peace from baby to get other things done (like eat), and baby einstein provides entertainment that baby likes to watch. It is simple, colourful and has new sounds. It is much better for her to be watching baby einstein then the shows I enjoy or the cartoons that are on tv today.

I am as frustrated as you.

I found Baby Einstein 10 years ago (VHS version if that says anything!) with my oldest son. It gave me a time to take a shower and get dressed in the morning. I later found out how much he was learning from the songs etc. I even heard some songs that I had not heard since I was a toddler, which created a bonding time between us.

I later continued it with my daughter, who also loved it (only 8 years ago).

Now their baby brother (6 months) and the older two have a special time sitting, playing and chatting about one of their favorite videos of all time. It has really brought them all together. With the new Baby Einstein DVDs (YEAH!), they are able to expand their knowledge in a way that their little brother can relate to and learn from.

The product never said it would make any of the genius, but I have to say they both are in their school's gifted program. It isn't about the learning, it is about the bonding (unlike some copycat products).

Tell the government/media to get over it. It is time to spend with your child, not time to insert a DVD and have that babysit the kid (though sometimes, it is necessary!).

We love your products and wish you the best in dealing with this situation. For one, no parent should ever rely on a book, dvd, etc. to be the teacher of their children. That's what we as parents are for. A dvd, book, etc. should only be used as a resource in the learing process. Your product is a wonderful resource that we use and will continue to use with our son. The day we count on a resource to do the work for us is the day we fail our son. Keep up the great work. We will not be returning our dvd's for a refund, exchange or whatever is being offered.
