I just recently started showing Baby Einstein to my 9 month old daughter and I’m not doing it to make her a genius. The videos and cds that I have so far relax her, hold her attention, make her sing, and dance. They bring a smile to her face as well as mine; and I have no complaints whatesoever. If people don’t agree with the product then they don’t have to show it to their kids. But they should not disrespect this company’s name because the pictures, sounds, and visualizations to help to stimulate the child’s brain and I for one am very pleased with everything Baby Einstein provides my daughter and I.
Thanks you Baby Einstein family!

I am sorry that your company must go through this. I have a 3 year old that “grew up” on the Baby Einstein videos and I can not be happier with the products that you put out. The music alone has been a great introduction to classical music. A combination of the videos and parental interaction makes for a great way to learn. I, for one, will not be asking for any sort of refunds. I am sure many will agree that you have a great and useful product. Good luck.

Oscar, Madrid, Spain says:
It is sad when I see from my country what happens with your company. No one can say that music, colors, shapes and animals are not good stimulous for babys. Of course Baby Einstein will not grant that children who watch its videos will become engineers! Of course it is a bad practice to put a child in front of ANY video for some hours! Of course that those are not the goals of Baby Einstein nor any parent that wish to give their children some good education, like myself.
Now I will tell about MY children. With 2 y.o. they were able to recognize most animals, to name some of them, to remember some music, to recognize and name most colors, and many shapes… with JUST half an hour viewing this DVDs for some days a week, not everyday. With 3 y.o., they were able to recognize and name in Spanish (mother tongue) all the animals and their sounds, all the shapes, all the colors, and most tools and music instruments and their sounds, they were also able to remember most music, and recognize and name in English some animals and all colors.
Of course that all has been posible with our aid, helping them to learn, but also with an excelent tool as these simple music, colors, animals and shapes videos. Of course we have never left them in front of the TV, and expect they would automatically learn to identify red, blue and green. Are some parents so stupid to think so?? Or maybe those parents are only interested in money and legal reputation??
I just want to send my opinion, I have absolutely no relationship with this company, and in fact I used some videos that I even had not buy (some loans and some ripped). Me and lots of parents that have hear about legal actions against Baby Einstein do feel ashamed of some human being, and of your legal administration system. Is it far supposed that Puppets for hand and bath do not reach they goals??? We found and bought here some of them (dragon for bath, duck and dog (paulov!!), i whish we had found also the cow and the zeebras!!! We are proud of having teached our children with this DVDs, and later with Little Einsteins ones.
This is only our opinion. Thanks.

dont give these idiots a dime they should be giving us a refund of the tax money we spent on trying to educate them. Thats like trying to sue your college for not getting the job you wanted. I feel sorry for the kids having moron parents like these not becoming a genius from watching a video is the least of they’re problem. Anyway, you have a great product I have a one year old that had colic and your videos and my wife carrying him around the house for hours was the only way to calm him down. What else can you ask for it helped him feel better and exposed him to a lot of good things without having to worry what is going to be shown in between on tv. Dont pay these idiots a dime of the money you earned. They should be giving us a refund of the tax money we spent trying to educate them. Thanks, keep up the good work

My children, now 5 and 3 also grew up with Baby Einstein videos. I didn’t purchase the videos with any expectation that they would make my children smarter if they watched them. It’s nice to have something that you can put on for them occasionally that is sweet, soothing, and fun. I understand that there are recommendations that children under 2 shouldn’t watch any TV or videos, but each parent should have the right to make that decision. I am an educator myself and am very choosy about what I let my kids watch. It was nice to have the choice to purchase and use the Baby Einstein videos and yes, I passed them on to other new mommies and raved about them.

I am a mother of 5 year old twins boys who “grew up” with several Baby Einstein Videos in our house. I have to say that I am outraged and shocked by the lawsuit against Baby Einstein and Disney. My entire family enjoyed time with these videos and with some of the cartoon choices these days… I mean come on! My boys still like to pick out a Baby Enstein video to watch and they are now 5! What is wrong with music, songs, interesting pictures, shapes and sounds? NOTHING! Unfortunately in this sue happy country people have to find fault with everything.
We did not buy these videos to make our boys a “baby genius”, we bought them for something different that what was offered in regular cartoons and we found it!
I will not be asking this company for a refund, these videos are part of our childrens DVD library and they would be very upset if we were to take them away.
As a parent set an example for your children, in everything you do!
Thank you for your time.

ok this is all such crap… I have 3 children who loved and still love the videos. they enjoy them, its better then some of the “crap” some parent allow their children to watch. I am a real parent who has real hopes from my children and i can understand tht no video or music can make a child a genious… those who think something like tha will have no need to be parents cause they are just lookoin to gain wealth from their kids!

This attack on Baby Einstein is ridiculous. All of my children (ages 7, 5 & 3) love the music and puppetry, not to mention Julie Clark’s soothing tone. It’s a peaceful backdrop to our household while I try to make meals or clean. My children are not glued to the TV; they run around and play, happily listening to the music. Here and there, they pay attention and repeat the things they hear. I think thye’ve learned many things from B.E. For example, the other day a cell phone rang with a classical piece as its ringtone. My 5 year old son said, “Ooh, I love that song!” He remembered it from the videos. Long live Baby Einstein; I will NOT be returning any of my DVDs!

I have been buying Baby Einstein products since my seven year old
twins were babies, and I love every item. My 23 month old beggs to watch “shapes” (baby newton). She dances to the music and has increased her vocabulary tremendously!!! The twins still sing the classical music. I strongly agree with the other moms, I will not ask for a refund!!! I hope your company is still producing these quality products when I am a grandmother:)

My daughter is 6 years old. When she was six month old at the recommendation of a school teacher that we know we began purchasing the Baby Einstein videos. This school teacher purchased Baby Eisntein for her own children and highly recommended we do the same. Our daughter watched the videos daily, focusing on the images and moving to the music. At six years of age my daughter has a love for music, reading books, dancing, drawing and the arts. I am not sure why but cosidering the amount of time she spent watching Baby Einstein I can give them credit for her development in the early years. Along with Baby Einstein my wife also invested time with my daughter teaching her colors, alphabet numbers, and reading. I never thought that my daughter would be an Einstein because I am aware that Baby Einstein is the name of the series. Baby Einstein is not going to take the place of parents sitting with their children, or sending our kids to pre school but it is a tool to help the development of our kids.
Everyone accepting a refunds from Disney after they have contributed to your childs development should be ashamed.

I will admit that I do not view the Einstein DVD as educational tools, but more as an entertainment venue. My son likes to watch them because of all the pictures and the movement on the screen. Plus it was once the only thing that I could count on in the morning to entertain him when I was getting ready. I don’t see anything wrong with them.

I have been very pleased with your videos/DVDs, flash cards, books, and toys.
Our daughter entered pre-k well ahead of her classmates, and now in kindergarten, is reading around a 2nd or 3rd grade level.
We understood that your products were to be used in addition to our regular daily reading, singing, and playing, all in an effort to keep her engaged and learning at every opportunity.
It is unfortunate that some would try to tarnish your high quality brand. I, and many others, will NOT be asking for a refund of any kind.
Please continue to provide wonderful products for children.
I appreciate your company’s work!

I just got the newsletter from Susan McLain and I want her to know that she has a right to be frustrated both as a parent and as part of the Baby Einstein enterprise.
I was absolutely shocked when I heard about this. I would never return my collection of DVD’s. My oldest daughter LOVED them and now my youngest (1.5 yrs) is enjoying them as well.
I NEVER expected anything significant to be gained from watching the DVD’s. These were solely used as entertainment. Although, I will say my daughter a 2 yrs old was clearly saying “metamorphisis”. It took us awhile to figure out where she heard it – and it was in one of the Baby Einstein videos.
I personally love your products. I feel sorry that a few people are ripping off your company for no reason.
Keep taking the high road and shake it off. Baby Eistein has and will have many fans for years to come.

I am appalled that our legal system would agree with parents who seem to think they can park their infants in front of the television to be solely taught and raised by a DVD. Those people need parenting classes, not refunds. We enjoy your line of products, but in no way think it should take the place of parenting our children. And certainly your DVD’s are far superior to having infants view something like Spongebob. Our society has become sadly defined by people who take no personal responsibility for their actions and want to hold others accountable for their own shortcomings. It’s such a shame we’ve come to this, and how can such a society expect to raise intelligent children who can think for themselves?

My husband and I just laughed when we heard of the pending lawsuit. It’s already ridiculous that parents won’t just let their kids be kids, but to assume they can sit them in front of a DVD and expect them to learn by themselves is even more ridiculous. Baby Einstein is a wonderful interactive tool for parents and children and we will continue to support all of your efforts to entertain our child with your visuals and music. Hang in there.

I want to ‘Thank’ Baby Einstein for always producing outstanding products! I used the videos & DVD’s as tools… not baby-sitters. As tools, they did their job which was to introduce my daughter to classical music in a manner that she appreciated, beautiful art, objects, animals, dances, etc. I knew that those 30 minutes would be ‘our’ time as ‘we’ would watch the movies together. This mom applauds you for all you do & will continue to give Baby Einstein products to all new moms.

I find this all very confusing. Why on earth did Baby Einstein capitulate with this ridiculous refund offer?? That was like admitting guilt, when they have absolutely nothing to feel guilty about. Baby Einstein products are fabulous – period.

Cathy says:
My son is 8 and has been diagnosed on the autism spectrum. Baby Einstein videos were critical to his intellectual development and to encouraging him to label animals, objects, and actions. The first video he ever independently requested to view was ‘goat tape” (aka Vincent Van Goat colors tape) and he still falls asleep to the music CD’s at night. My typically developing daughter enjoyed the videos with her brother when she was a baby, a blessing when there were few activities they could participate in side by side. Baby Einstein videos and music definitely played a significant role in my child’s cognitive development and increased his happiness in this world! Thanks for making a product that has enhanced our lives!

I am so sick and tired of everyone making such a big deal about things like this. Your products are wonderful and HELP with introducing children to so many things that they would be exposed to eventually anyway…Baby Einstein makes it easier…if a child is going to be an Einstein they are going to be an Einstein and no one THING is going to make them better. Those that believe that your company was making assumptions that your products make children smarter are idiots themselves. I do not believe that a THING can make you smarter…ANYONE has the potential to be smart if they surround themselves with many different things and that includes your products along with PARENTING!! I get so frustrated when people try to make a fast buck by sueing…it is ridiculous…People need to stop blaming others and just concentrate on what they are doing to make their children well rounded happy people…and if Baby Einstein isn’t it then DON’T BUY the PRODUCTS!! Those that care will continue to buy your products not because they will make our children smarter but because they make our children HAPPY!!
Continue with what you do…I think it is wonderful!!!
FORGET THE NAYSAYERS and GOOD FOR YOU FOR STATING YOUR OPINION!!!

Dear Susan,
I just got your letter emailed to me and I really feel badly for the Baby Einstein Company. I can see why you are frustrated both as a parent and employee.
My eldest daughter grew up glued to the Baby Einstein DVD’s, and now her younger sister is enjoying them as well.
When I bought the DVD’s it was for entertainment. I NEVER expected miracles to happen and that they would cultivate a genius!!!
I will say my daughter did say “Metamorphasis” at age 2 out of the blue. It took us a bit to realize it was from the movies.
I love the Baby Einstein products and would not part with my collection of DVD’s to get my money back. Unfortunately sometimes a few can ruin it for many.
Stick to the high road and know that Baby Einstein has plenty of fans and will continue to gain fans regardless of this situation.

I read the article in Yahoo’s front page blurbs and was sick to my stomach. I cannot believe that they would attack your company for trying to create beautiful experiences for mother and child. Why dont they really talk about things that are very important and newsworthy. Why are they not attacking the companies that are actually doing harm to our children with vaccinations. Do they realize Autism is 1 in every 91 now? That is what people should know and be worried about. I have 2 children with Autism and they LOVE your products. They have been wonderful for them and a fun experience for us to share. This is a sad world we live in when they allow million dollar pharmaceutical companies to continue to harm our children and prosecute the companies who only want to enhance their lives! To keep it short and sweet…you have a GREAT product! My daughter LOVED these videos as a baby and toddler! Don’t let the media and CERTAIN other people bring you down! There are just people out there who have nothing better to do with their time other then what they are doing. Let parents decide for their children what is best! Maybe the media and THESE people should direct their attention towards making sure children are taken care of, not abusedand have descent people raising them other then being in volved in what a video or a show for that matter does or does not do for a child! JMO!

I am shocked that anyone would even think that any video would make children “genius”. What they do is provide age appropiate sounds and sites that help children learn and and enjoy things around them. I showed many of your videos to my two children 4 and 6. Actually there are many days that they will pull out one of those DVD’s and want to watch them at their current age. I think it has a calming effect on them while they watch. So I want to thank you for sharing your great ideals with the rest of us and providing quality products for us to use.

I think it’s an absolute shame that this is happening. I believe children learn by absorbing their environment, by what they see, hear, feel. Both my children listened and watched the Baby Einstein CD, hand-me-down much-loved by friends video, and dvd sets and they adored them. They appreciate classical music, can identify their favored pieces, colors, and animals from a very early age even before speaking in the case of my son. The Baby Einstein sets were treasured in our household and among our friends and family, and we still listen to the CDs from time to time. Baby Einstein may not be promoted as an “educational” source, but it absolutely aided in my children’s beginning education. There is no need for a refund here, nor amongst all of our friends. Whenever any of us received anything by Baby Einstein, we were thrilled.

I like most moms, would love if my children were to become “smart” from birth, however we all know this is not going to happen. I believe that Baby Einstein is a way for our children to learn about fun and educational things at a young age. Music, bright colors, animals, themes like food, weather, animals, water etc. If you are a a normal parent, you didn’t buy these amazing videos to “make your child smart”, but you bought them to help engage them at a young age, without turning on the nonsense cartoons our young children have on regular tv to watch nowadays.
I don’t understand how if it has been “proven” that music and colors(positive stimulation) help in the development of our children’s minds, how they can say that Baby Einstein, can’t help make your child smarter. No nothing is going to make your child “smart”. It takes positive stimulation, parent involvement and encouragement to help your child’s brain develop, and Baby Einstein videos do all of that. As a mother of two ages 5 and 3 (who still love Baby Einstein videos, with another baby on the way, I support Baby Einstein, not because they do or dont make my children “Smarter”, but because they provide my children with a learning experience very young, and one that I can still today, sit down with my oldest and engage her mind in learning.

I’m unfamiliar with the smear campaign but if, from what I gather, someone is campaigning against your products based on the implication that they are purported to be officially sanctioned educational products then that goes to show the caliber of intellect with which you’re dealing (baseless ad hominem attacks peppered with a healthy dose of vitriole would be my guess). I have two daughters, ages 7 and 3 both of whom have always enjoyed your products (as have my wife and I). Granted, I haven’t determined yet whether the 7 year old will go on to be a Nobel Laureate or a sniper, but I doubt very highly that early exposure to soothing images and music will have been the impetus in either outcome (well, on second thought, when I see Baby Galileo the voices do tell me to stay home and clean the guns, but I digress…)

I heard on the When I heard on the news about Baby Einstein being sued, I was very surprised. There are just some people so low trying to make money any way possible, including blackmailing companies and celebrities.
I have a 4-yr. old who was raised with watching your DVDs since he was 6 mo. old. He was’t watching them for 1 hr, at first it was 10 min, then 30 min. maximum. First of all, if any parent is letting a 6mo.-1yr old baby watch TV for 1 hr, I would think about child negligence by that parent, and it doesn’t matter what the baby is watching.
Second, I have also a teenager. He didn’t have a pleasure of watching those DVDs when he was growing up, and I can see a difference. My 4-yr. old is very knowledgeable about music, and Baby Einstein played big part in it-he can recognize Brahms from Mozart (in his age!). My teenager is not that much educated in classical music, even though I was playing CDs all the time, but it didn’t develop love through children-friendly bright-colored images.
Suggestion for the company #1: put a disclosure on DVDs “Not recommended for watching for more than 30min.”, as they claim scientists found that delayed child development
Suggestion #2: Start campaign with letters and signatures to override decision of the court to refund money; I will be first to sign and write a letter

I also hope that you are never forced to change the name of the company, I mean come on people – how hard is it to understand that the name of the company is a reflection of the many artists, musicians and scientists that the first DVD’s were named after.

I have a 4 1/2 daughter who LOVES Baby Einstiens videos and has since she was a baby. She has learned to do Sign Language and the music cds and DVDs have given her an appreciation for music. I don’t know that they will cause her to be a genius but I do know they are more educational than most things you find on Nick or other cartoon channels. I personally will not be returning or advocating returning any Baby Einsteins items. I have even started allowing my infant son to watch them. I wonder if people who question why their children aren’t genius after watching the DVDs have ever thought that you can not “teach” genius, either you are born a genius or you’re not…

This was and still is my son’s favorite video. He calls it Water Water Everywhere. I never expected him to become a genious. Like other mom’s I noticed that my son was relaxed when he watched this video and then others. To this day he still watches Baby Neptune. Now that he has a sister he wants her to watch the videos to. He tells her that they are fun to watch. When we put them on he sings and she coos. I think this is a great product and it is a shame that someone has to put it down. In reading the “What We Do” section of CCFC’s website, I am appalled by what is listed as #1: “We hold corporations accountable for their egregious marketing practices and, in doing so, highlight both the failures of self-regulation and the need for government policies limiting corporate marketers’ access to children.’
Personally, I think parents should be held accountable for it is up to them to provide the proper balance. Yes, the marketing pull is very strong but they are able to reach children only because the parents allow them to. In my opinion, CCFC should be targeting the parents that give their children free rein and do not live up to their parenting responsibilities.
My child is MY child. Her father and I say what she watches, what toys she has and how she is educated; not the government or some coalition. We are the ones who instill values; not anyone else. If she repsonds to a particular character then so be it as long as the exposure is in moderation. After all, childhood should be fun. And, the last thing we need right now is more regulations and restrictions.
The Baby Einstein products have been a wonderful tool for our daughter. She shows great interest in music and art as a result of her exposure to these products which balances out the learning of colors, numbers, shapes, etc. I cannot think of a better product with which my child could be engaged.

I have been and continue to be a staunch supporter of the Baby Einstein DVD products. We purchased the entire set over 2 years ago. In response to all of the recent press, my comment is, “if you turn on the TV, pop in a Baby Einstein DVD and expect your child to become “learned” overnight then you are under a delusion. I was never under the illusion that the DVDs would make our child a genius. I feel that for most of the parents like us who purchased the DVDs, we use the DVDs as a reinforcement to OUR teaching not as a primary tool or babysitter. We started our son on the DVDs when he turned 3 years old. We would let him watch the dvd for no more than a hour on Saturday in both English and Spanish. After the DVD was over we would talk with him about him what he saw. He is particularly fond of the Orchestra and My Neighborhood DVDs. He is now 5 and at his school he is in a music class and Spanish class. What is particularly interesting is that his music class teacher uses the Orchestra DVD to reinforce her teaching. He is excelling in Spanish a great deal because of our exposing him to Spanish via the DVDs. I attribute this to how we used the DVDs. In my estimation thse DVDs help to bring out the curiosity in toddler. If I have to do it over again, I would still expose our son to the Baby Einstein DVD system.

How can they not be considered educational? The definition of educate in its verb form is “to provide with information”. The Baby Einstein products that I am familiar with provide my baby with information, as it shows her things that she normally would not see or hear. That isn’t eduacational???? It may be a conterversial WAY to educate but none the less educates!
I understand the CCFC’s ideas. Kids are exposed to way to much media these days, but maybe educating parents on ways to limit that, rather than attacking companies would get their message across better! For me I love BabyEinstein and will continue to view them WITH my daughters, as I beleive they are intended. Love your products, keep them coming and keep your chin up!!

I used your videos for both of children who are 4 and 3 years old now. I understood that the videos are a tool not a crutch for parents. I watched the videos with my kids and talked to them while we watched. They loved the special time with Mommy and I did too. I think people who use them incorrectly propping there kids in front of the tv deserve to be told off. Thats not good parenting at all. Thats letting the TV babysitt for you. So I dont think they sjhould be whining. Best of Luck to Baby Einstien Co. You have made great educational products that we loved and still love.

I have been up in arms about this all morning on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/andreaness)and can’t believe that people are out there fighting the validity of your videos and your company. It seems that they are trying to trigger all different sorts of audiences to back them up and fight you. They being ones that are anti-tv and trying to persuade parents who buy dvds for their little ones that they can get money by returning them. That you guys fooled us into buying them because they are suppose to be educational. You got to be kidding me!
Just like you stated in your response to Linn, the parents who actually buy your DVDs do find value in them and know that most, if not all of them, had great experiences with your videos. I am sad to know that some of these consumers will be greedy and just see $$ and that is a horrible way to say thank you to Disney and the Baby Einstein Company for the many smiles and laughs you provided our children.
I know I am only one parent, but I will continue to be a loyal consumer and will make sure to buy even more Baby Einstein products then ever before!!
Thank you!

Just wanted to say that we love the Baby Einstein products, including the DVD’s. I didn’t play them to my son (now almost 3) so that he could be a genius but so it would keep him content while I made up some bottles, did the dishes and got some laundry started. While I still don’t let me son watch that much TV and I agree that kids really shouldn’t watch that much, I do think it is necessary sometimes to give mom or dad a break or to catch up on some chores. I am pregnant with baby number 2 and she will be viewing our large collection of the DVD’s as well. I love that the clips on the DVD are short and just long enough to hold a little ones attention, right when they start to get bored the scene changes and it has captured their attention again. I also just want to say that my son will not go to sleep unless his Baby Einstein cd is on. To this day his favorite books are the Baby Einstein ones!

I have been showing these DVD’s to my son since he was 3 months old and he loved every minute of them. When he was 18 months he knew all his animals, and people were shocked. He just turned 3 in Sept. and still can’t get enough of Baby Einstein. He recognizes the different classical music if he hears it on the radio or even in a commercial, and now he loves Little Einsteins which teaches just as much. Even to to this day he uses sign language, that he’s learned from the dvd’s itself. I am shocked to know that there are people out there that don’t believe in this product. I now have a daughter who is month old, and will be introducing baby eintsein to her as well. Keep up the great work and don’t stop doing what you’re doing

I am the mother of twin 21 month olds. They started watching Baby Einstein videos when they were 4 month old. It has helped them learn to count (and apply the counting), learn their colors, animals, develop a love of music and dancing. That is just to name a few things. Thank you Baby Einstein. We love you!

My 5 and 3 year old daughters still enjoy watching their Baby Einstein dvd’s to this day. Some of their favorites include Beethoven and Mozart intended for infants. These videos help to calm them and they really enjoy the music and funny puppets. Even though they were not intended to be an educational tool in our home, they have come to appreciate classical music and fine art. My five year old can actually recognize composers while listening to them on the radio! We are backing you 100% and thoroughly enjoyed and will continually enjoy watching these amazing videos. Thank you for all of your efforts.

I am appalled that your company has to go through all these hassles.I have purchase videos not only for my son but for my oldest child and never had in mind that these videos are going to make my child a genius, that’s ridiculous!!! That’s the problem with some people nowadays they want to blame others for their own responsibilities, I have never think that a video is going to replace my interaction with my child if I as many parents out there have used your products it has been for entertainment purposes so those who are accusing your company of “not delivering what promised” are at lost, no wonder their children aren’t smart, the fruit never falls far from the tree, just my honest opinion, I love your products and I will continuing buying them as long my children are interested and for my friends, too!!! Thanks Baby Einstein for so many years of fun and entertainment!!!!

I have purchased a number of videos and other Baby Einstein products. I have no complaints, in fact I make purchased based upon your brand name. My 1st child loved the DVD’s, it kept her entertained while I cooked dinner and I can remember hearing her laugh at the puppets as a 6 month old. My second child never had interest in them, but I don’t hold your company responsible for that either. I think they are great products and I never felt you were making me a guarantee of child genius when I purchased them. I do find it interested however, that in all the news coverage I can find, you are only offering a refund on 4 videos and only to USA residents. Canadians have a different policy, which I think is an unfair policy. Not that you should be refunding everyone money, but if you offer it to one set of people, you have to offer the same to everyone. Thank you for the great products and the learning tools they are. As with anything, your kids get out of it what the parents put into it.

As a mom of a 4 and 2 year old, I have nothing but positive things to say about Baby Eistein! I think of the videos as moving picture books and have always watched them with my children, pointing out things we see on the screen together. This has given my children a HUGE vocabulary for their ages. Of course, if you plop you infant in front of the TV for hours a day and walk away the videos could be a negative thing – but that’s not using them in the way they were intended. The people who are attacking Baby Einstein are the same people that force the plastic bag industry to put warnings on their products that the bag shouldn’t be placed over a babies head. Use common sense and the product as it is intended. My kids are living proof that Baby Einstein is a wonderful company!

I love the Baby Einstein dvd’s!!! My daughter Jillian learns so much from them and she loves the puppets. She has been exposed to different parts of the world through language, music and animals. I would never dream of asking for a refund for any of these learning tools. I think it is so important to teach children in different ways not just the tv but actually interacting with the children along with what they are seeing and learning from these dvd’s. Baby einstein has opened my eyes to a whole world of things to teach my little girl and for this I am so grateful!!!! Thank you all so much for bringing the world to us!!! Sincerely, Rhonda Champagne

Dear Susan,
I now am a grandmother for the first time. When my granddaughter comescomes to spend the day we play together, eat together and watch baby einsten together. She loves to sit on the floor with me to watch leaning against me or with her head resting on my leg.
She gets so excited when she hears the caterpillar.
At eleven months she is starting to try to copy Ms. Matlin’s sign language.
I surely can’t ask for a refund for that, but offering a heartfelt thank you for all the special moments with Ellie that you have helped create.

I just heard a blip about this on the radio on the way to teach as a library media specialist at an elementary school. I was shocked that some family would actually sue for money because their child was not a genius after watching these. That’s not the company’s fault, that’s the genes in the family! So sorry to hear about it and just remember what goes around comes around. They will be dealt with by a higher order. God be with you.

I disagree with negative remarks made about Baby Einstein. I am a grandmother, and we spent many a visit with Baby Einstein dvds and I truly feel that if you are interactive with your child, no matter how old the child is, it is a learning experience. We watched the dvds and talked about what we were watching. My little grandson learned from those wonderful dvds. You just have to spend time with the little ones not just plop them in front of the tv. It is time well spent and Baby Einstein products are most definitely a great tool for introducing children to fascinating worlds of color, sounds, animals, music, letter, numbers and so forth.

My grandson has loved Baby Einstein ever since he was about 2 months old. As soon as the music started he would get so excited. I never thought my grandson would becoome a genious from watching these, but he loved the colors, movement and music. He is now almost 2 years old and even today if he hears the music, he stops whatever he is doing to watch. I loved these video’s and have since passed them on to another mother. Shame on them for putting you through this. (My granson is very intelligent, who knows, maybe the video’s did have something to do with that.)

I have to say that it is pathetic of those that believe a video will make a baby a genius. My children and god children watched these videos for years. It was stimulating and entertaining to them. As they grew older, yes, they did pick up on colors, shapes & more with this as an instrument in other learing activities that we did.
I have recently found out that I am expecting my 3rd child, and realized i no longer have these videos, which was disappointing to me only because I know I will be repurchasing them.
Todays socisty is always looking for others to blame for their problems instead of leaning to deal with them. I have always recommended these videos and will continue to support Baby Einstein products.

I am the grandmother of 4 children. There are so many disappointing toys and educational devices that fall apart, fall over when they are used per the instructions, that contain lead and have small piece that babies and childrent can swallow etc. etc.
I have never seen one of my grandchildren sit for hours watching Baby Einstein Videos…they’re usually dancing and moving and laughing.
One of my grandson’s with mild language disability which has us all very concerned. He had some of the “Rocket” videos and we would hear hsinging at the top of his lungs every word of the song. This was the 1st indication that he only had a problem that he would outgrow in time.
Compared to most of the toys available …in my opinion Baby Einstein by far superior.

I can’t say that I’m not surprised by the negative comments towards the Baby Einstein company – I guess that there are parents out there that assumed their children would become a “baby einstein” just by watching a video over and over again, without being there to play or sing along with them. The site itself even says that the matierials are meant to be enjoyed by both the adult and the child, not just the child alone. I openly admit that there have been frequent times when I’ve left my son in front of the TV, watching Baby Einstein DVD’s so I can get some chores or college homework done during the day (he doesn’t nap as long as he used to at 11 mos). However, I love sitting there with him and pointing out the shapes and colors on the screen… and if he looses interest, it plays in the background for the music – or he may look up at it if something catches his eye.
I in no way shape or form beleieve that by watching these DVD’s will my son be a super genius – It is not false advertising simply because of the product’s name. That would be like filing a lawsuit against Proctor & Gamble for their “Joy” dishsoap when it doesn’t cause “joy” – is that false advertising, too? I don’t think so. Nowhere on the DVD, website, or on any other Baby Einstein product does it guarantee “genius” results! If anything, the site says that the DVD’s are like a ‘visual board book’. As a parent, I don’t believe everything I read; I explore options and use my own judgement when it comes to my son’s well-being. I don’t own a lot of Baby Einstein products, just a lot of the DVD and 2 music CD’s (and three toys that were gifts); if my son turns out to be some genius, that’s great – if not, I’m not going to blame a company that was built on trying to stimilate babies’ senses.
I love the Baby Einstein Company and for all it stands for. I don’t think I’m doing my son any harm by showing him animals in their natural environments or letting him see shapes, colors, puppet shows (that even I laugh at), or hearing classical music in a child-friendly way. Not every product will please every parent/person, but I think that the media should leave a good company like this one alone… What next? Attack Disney for charging too much for admission to its parks? I don’t think so.

I am somewhat agitated with the media reports regarding the Baby Einstein DVDs. I am the proud Grandfather of a 5-year old who grew up, from the first week he was born, with Baby Einstein videos. My wife and I, my son and daughter-in-law never had any misconception about the use or expectations of the videos. The videos focused Jaden’s attention, they amused him, they relaxed him. (I cannot count the times he was soothed to sleep while watching “Baby Galileo”. We could always depend that, no matter how fussy, by the time we got to the “Cow jumped over the mooooon!”, he’d be fast asleep.) He grew up calling his friend, the Baby Einstein caterpillar, “Cater”.
At the same time, I remember speaking with a few family and friends; grandparents and parents all, who were not impressed with Baby Einstein videos. When I asked in detail invariably I found that they expected to “sit the baby in front of the TV with the video playing” and walk away. As if, somehow, the video was going, I don’t know, ‘program’ the genius into the child! We always watched the videos with Jaden, pointed things out, used toys to reinforce the ideas and carried forward with those concepts. Now, I’d be less than a “professional” grandfather if I didn’t say that my grandson is a natural genius (no bias here.) But I firmly believe that our use of the Baby Einstein DVDs helped to stimulate and entertain.
Thank you for a wonderful series of products.

Susan – Thank you for taking the even higher road and writing this note. You’re right about there being an eternal parenting debate. And as the theme to Diffrent Strokes went, “What may be right for you may not be right for some.”
I am a Dad who used the BE videos to SUPPLEMENT my kids’ education. Never in my right mind did I think they were the be all, end all of my children’s education. I am confident that they taught my children about animals, numbers, counting, music and much more. It is unfortunate that people like the CCFC have nothing better to do with their lives than fabricate truths in an effort to be ‘victorious,’ not for the people, but for themselves. Informed and educated parents know to not use the television as a babysitter. However, tactical use of educational videos and shows will contribute to educational development of any child.
Keep standing up for what you believe as a brand and more importantly as a mother.

I agree with the comments above. As a mom with twin girls I get so angry when people judge you and the products you chose to use in your life. We all parent differntly and it is a nice brake when you have a dvd that is both beautiful to listen and watch. I thank you for the bits of peace I get when they watch these videos. For those that do not want their children exposed to these or to TV, I say then do not watch and let the rest of us parent the way we choose to. I belive that learning colors music and animals is not harmful to children.
Thank you for your products

I have to say that my daughter is a HUGE fan of the movies and the music. I have CD’s that play for her at night. I’ve tried others and she doens’t seem to sleep through the night. As for the movies, I didn’t expect them to make her smarter, but she definitely recognizes a lot more through the use of the videos. I would like to see Baby Einstein videos that are geared for holidays as she is big on asking about Santa Claus….and it is only Halloween! Keep up the good work, we’ll be buying and watching.

But he loves to see the shapes and colors go across the screen. He listens intently to the music and sounds. It makes him giggle and smile. To be so silly as to believe that Baby Einstein should be soley responsible for educating your child is ridiculous. Keep on bringing your wonderful items Baby Enstein!!

I completely agree with all 3 of these comments; these DVDs have been great for our baby boy (now 22 months) and he continues to enjoy them. He has definitely learned things from them and repeats the names of animals, places, things…in English, Spanish and ASL! He probably knows more signs than we do at this point. They keep him entertained and this is especially helpful for air travel. So thank you for making such a wonderful line of products…and hopefully this will all blow over very soon.

I was a bit confused yesterday when I saw the report on the new that baby Einstein Co. was offerring refunds. I was never under the assumption that viewing your DVD’s or using other Baby Einstein product would help my child become a prodigy! As a parent, I don’t mind my daughter watching television and I much prefer something educational like Sesame Street or Baby Einstein DVDs. My daughter has always loved the soothing sounds and prefers to watch “real life” pictures and people other than cartoons. That is just her preference. But I will say that she has picked up the sign language used and can “read” the words on the screen before they are spoken. We purchased the complete set of DVD’s (25 I think) about 2 years ago and we don’t plan on asking for a dime back!! Thank you for what you do and the time and effort you put into making children happy.

Dear Mrs. McLain:
I honestly was unaware of any negative media campaign against Baby Einstein until I read the latest email. I’ve also honestly never heard of Susan Linn before. I don’t know what possible problem she could have with your company or its products, but for whatever it’s worth, I can tell you from my own experience that I have nothing but good things to say, and cherished memories to go along with them. My daughter Cristina’s (now turning 6 years old and starting kindergarten) infancy attachment to Baby Einstein DVD’s and toys are some of the earliest and fondest memories my wife and I have of parenthood, and among the first indications of our daughter’s developing alertness and awareness. In fact, even though she’s grown into other interests, we refuse to part with those things. We even on occasion will pull one out for old time’s sake. I know all you moms (and dads) can relate. I just thought you’d like to hear some positive feedback. Thanks.

Baby Einstein’s videos are about sharing the world with your child. They are just the right mix of music, real-world objects, artwork, and humor. When my daughter was younger she loved all the real animals and was mesmerized by the colors, music, and shapes and now that she’s older (she’s 2 years old now) she loves the funny things that the animal puppets do. I have never thought baby einstein videos would make her a genius (and I personally think the parents that strive toward that for their kids need to relax and just let their kids be kids) but it was always an added bonus if she learned something new. We have 7 DVD’s and you couldn’t pry them from my cold dead hands! Way to go Baby Einsten for standing up for yourself and please never stop making great products for our children.

These videos are wonderful. And, no one can say that children don’t learn from them. My son has. We have the ENTIRE collection. I watch them with him, and we talk about it, point out animals and shapes. It’s a way to learn and interact. We even watch the First Signs DVD together and I’VE LEARNED! I didn’t show my son the sign for baby, but when my husband and I were talking and said the word baby, my son did the sign for it! I was amazed because I never taught him that one. He picked it up solely from the DVD. He’s 2 now, and he’s learning shapes. He knows what a triangle, oval, circle, square and star are. My aunt was so amazed (she’s a elementary school teacher) that he knew all those shapes already! He also will say each animals name that comes on the screen when he sees them.
It’s also something that calms him (and his cousin). When my son had pneumonia and wouldn’t sit still to do his breathing treatment, I played a Baby Einstein DVD and he sat there no fuss. Recently, my niece was sick with an ear infection and the ONLY thing that could get her to stop crying was watching a Baby Einstein DVD.
I never thought these DVDs would make my son smarter, but I thought they would entertain him. However, they have done more than I expected and I don’t know what I would have done without them.
We don’t watch Sesame Street, the characters drive me nuts, but this is real life images and words and I love the music. My husband was the first to get hooked on these DVDs at a friends house when they were playing one for their kids. He said “We have to get those”. We did, and I will never return them. Ever.
You have my complete support.

My daughter is now 10 and she adored the Baby Einstein videos as a baby. We would sit together and sing or make the noises in the movies. We even bought her some puppets from the show and would use them to interact with. She is a bright, well-adjusted, confident you ng lady who does not have a problem paying attention.
I am now having another baby and look forward to sharing the movies and music with the new baby!

BABY EINSTEIN DOES’NT HAVE ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. MY DAUGHTER HAS BEEN WATCHING BABY EINSTEIN SINCE SHE WAS 3MONTH OLD AND SHE IS NOW 9MONTHS OLD. SHE STILL LOVES EVERY SECOND OF BABY EINSTEIN DVD’S. IT BRINGS JOY AND LAUGHTER TO HER EVERYTIME SHE SEES IT. VERY ENTERTAINING AND TO ME IT IS ALSO EDUCATIONAL. I EVEN LEARN SOMETHING EVERYTIME I WATCH IT. I NOW KNOW WHAT A MONET PICTURE LOOKS LIKE. LOL

My children are 7 & 5 and both watched and loved the Baby Einstein dvd’s. We have just about every one! They actually still sometimes pull them out to watch, especially when they are not feeling well, and want to just relax. We have the puppets and some of the books. I’ve been so happy with all the baby einstein products! I would continue to buy the products for my children, and my friends. I think the dvd’s are wonderful, and I can’t believe this is a big deal in the news.

I want to express my appreciation to the Baby Einstein company and all of your products. I recieved Baby Einstein DVD’s a year before my daughter was born and have watched them with both of my children. For the 6 years we have owned them, I have seen developments in my children that I know with the help of the visual these DVD’s provide, my children have been able to hear and see things that I haven’t been able to provide them. I am so grateful for the imaginative people that have put color, numbers, sounds, letters and words in reach of my children to help them learn. Baby Einstein DVD’s are a part of our bedtime routine to help our children calm down from the day. My son, who is 2, gets excited when he sees the catapillar and he knows just what is coming on.
I own all of the DVD’s and purchase the new ones the day they come out. That is how much I appreciate and support the Baby Einstein company. I am so sorry that this stress has come upon your company, and I hope it fades soon and no longer grieves you.

I’d just like to say that don’t we all, as mother’s, hope to have our children grow up to be brain surgeons, or rocket scientists, or even the next President of the United States??? Sure we do! But my husband and I didn’t buy these DVD’s with those expectations, they came highly recommended to us and we are very, very happy with our investments! Our 11 month old son, Tyler, absolutely LOVES each and every Baby Einstein DVD that he watches! He has been watching Baby Einstein since he’s 5 months and gets so excited when the DVD starts, it’s almost like he’s never seen the video, but he has seen them each about 100 times! We love Baby Einstein!!!

My children have been watching Baby Einstein DVD’s for 5 years now. It is apart of our bedtime routine and helps calm our children for bed. They aren’t “brilliant” because of watching these DVD’s, but they are so much more educated to all the things in this world that I am not able to show them. Thank you for all you have done for my children. I support the Baby Einstein company fully and will not ever ask for a refund, or stop my children from enjoying all the wonderful things Baby Einstein, and now Little Einstens, have taught them. I purchase all the new DVD’s the day they come out, and will continue to do so. Thank you for all your hard work.

I appreciate your previous stance to take the high-road and also appreciate the words you have stated here. We are huge fans of Baby Einstein at our house and I cannot understand how these videos full of music, songs, instruments, poetry, art and puppets could be construed as anything but fun and good for your child. I will continue to buy Baby Einstein for my toddler and look forward to future releases of videos, games and toys.

Susan, your loyal customers know better than to take the recent reports in the news seriously. We love Baby Einstein for what it is – good ‘ole fun for our babies. I love the videos and my 6 month old son has loved them since he was 4 weeks old. I plan to allow him to enjoy them for long into the future. The CFCC doesn’t speak for me or my family – and I don’t believe they speak for the average parent. We’re smarter than they are. We know that the Baby Einstein DVDs are good for us and they’re good for our children because they’re enjoyable, stimulating, soothing and/or any combination thereof. The DVDs are not going to make any child a genius and a reasonable parent wouldn’t have that expectation. All the CFCC has done here is make me want to go out and buy MORE Baby Einstein DVDs and products for my child and others. So, in conclusion, thank you for voicing your opinions. We appreciate your thoughts, and WE AGREE!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, Baby Einstein.

I am so sad that you have been under attack recently. I had no idea this was going on. My daughter was extremely colicky until she was 5 months old and your videos were the only thing that calmed her down. I could not be happier with any of your products. We have several books and over 25 videos and they all have grown with her. She is now 18 months and still loves them. She can name the animals and many other things in your videos. You say in the videos and on your website that they are only aids and are meant to be used between caregiver and child.
Also, my husband is in the military and we are currently in the middle of a deployment. Without your videos, I would never be able to shower or get ready. They are truly a lifesaver in our household.
Anyway, I love your products and want you to know we support you fully and will continue to buy and use your products for many years to come. My daughter’s first birthday party was Baby Einstein as well and she loved all of the decorations. Nothing but good reviews and publicity here.

I am very upset with the comments being said. My child is 3 and has loved the DVD’s. I believe that my child’s vocabulary has grown tremendously by watching the DVD’s. I teach students at a first grade level and I only wonder what some of these kids would be like if they had watched Baby Einstein while growing up. I love these products and have bought them for other new parents. I will continue to tell other parents about these products.

My 6 year old son loved Baby Einstein, and so do my 10 month old twin girls! and so do I! I’m an educated woman, and know that letting my children watch TV all day is *not* going to make them smarter. But they laugh, smile, and dance when I put on their favorite da vinci video for 30 minutes, and I get some down time that ALLOWS me to be a better mother so that I *can* help them learn. If that’s not helping them get smarter, than what is? Your company is wonderful, and there are many of us that understand that there is nothing to this suit. Keep on making your quality product, and we will keep son supporting you. Thank you Baby Einstein!

My wife and I take care of our 1 year old grandson 5 days a week, 9 hours a day and all I can say is thank goodness for Baby Einstein. We have 5 different Baby Einstein DVDs and he loves them all. We never bought them for and reason other than the music and the visual entertainment. When we took care of our 5 year old grandson, we had the same benefit from the Baby Einstein products.

I am a mother of 2 boys and I have to admit my first son fell in love with Baby Einstein and after he wore out the DVD/CD’s my second child was hardly able to play any of them. I have to say I was a bit worried with all the media attention against Baby Einstein videos and after rarely showing my 2nd child any videos at all he actually seems to be developing slower than my first did. My first son has an excellent memory and was reciting song versus, numbers, colors, and could easily identify animals. I am a big fan of Baby Einstein and I think if you spend extra time with your child and take it for what it is, there is no way it can truly harm them.

Connie says:
My daughter started watching the Baby MacDonald DVD just after her 1st birthday. That was all she ever asked to watch, and it was a special treat for her to do so. I only let her watch that one 30 minute video once a day, if even that, and I always tried to sit with her while she watched, so that the TV wasn’t the “babysitter” while I got some things done.
Even though we received other BE DVDs, but this one was her favorite, and it lead to her calling all of the BE DVDs “E-I-E-I-O” (and the Cds and books, when ever she saw that logo). I honestly didn’t think that she would learn too much from watching these shows, but I know for a fact that she did. After hearing me repeat the words that were said, she also started repeating the words, until she was saying them with the narrator. Finally we were able to move away from Baby MacDonald and watched the Things that Go, World Animals, and Neighborhood Animals, and we got to hear our 18 month old say and identify “hot air balloon” “flamingo” “dolphin” etc.
It seems like every day there is a new study done about something that we should be doing, or something that we’re doing wrong that’s harming our kids. It’s hard to tell what to go by anymore. But I do know that I will continue to use the Baby Einstein DVDs with my children, regardless of what this particular study and the media says.

I just wanted to speak as a grandmother. My three grandchildren have all enjoyed Baby Einstein from birth. I believe the music colors, vivid images and winsome puppets have had a positive impact on their lives. Are they educational? I can’t say. However, I certainly don’t think Baby Einstein has hindered their learning. My seven year old grandson goes to a computer magnet school where he excels in all subjects and based on the CRCT test last May is reading at 4th grade + level. My just turned six year old granddaughter who is in 5-K has been tapped to attend the first grade reading class every day because her reading ability is so advanced. My 23 month old grandaughter has been counting to twenty for a long time, knows the alphabet and can identify any of the letters in random order. We are pleased with our Baby Einstein experience.

Dr. Anita M. Stefan, DC says:
Our 6 1/2 year old daughter received a giftbox set of 10 DVD’s when she was just 2 weeks old. She loves them! While in Pediatric Intensive Care recovering from Open Heart Surgery, the nurses souldn’t believe how calm and soothing the DVD’s were and what a relaxing effect they had on an infant. They even helped elevate the bassinet so whe could see the monitor to watch them. (What else can you do with arms & legs restrained while hooked up to wires and monitors for so long?) I can’t tell you what a calming effect they had on ME for the years she was a toddler.
Please know that we are keeping ALL 16 of our DVD’s and will not return them. Perhaps we will even donate them to the ICU for the next ICU patients.
Wishing you the best as yoy get through this uncomfortable transition. We are thoroughly thriled with your products.

Ricardo (proud dad) says:
Seeing this from very far (latin america) I can only say that this is a very sad scene reflective of the many ludicrous situations that stress our lives. Our three year old daughter, since birth, has been enjoying BE and other similar parenting tools. The dvd series has made a tremendous difference in permitting us to expose her to a second language, music (she is an outstanding fan of Mozart)dance and elements normally only learned by older kids on a natrual level These building blocks work and they, as other parents here mention, were not acquired to have our daugther become a Lady Curie. They help us enourmously to introduce her in a fun way to the world. As a matter of fact they were strongly suggested to us by her older sister, who as a doctor has successfully used the series on our grandson.

I am appalled by what I’ve read about CCFC. I recently had my first child, and purchased an entire set of DVDs before he was even born. He has several other Baby Einstein products as well. We all — mom, dad and baby — love them and will continue using them. I think this is just another example of people not being able to monitor their children. Rather than put in a DVD, watch it and participate (sing, clap, dance, etc.) with their child, they try to take a helpful tool away from parents. I’d really like to give these attackers a piece of my mind!

I am a mother of a six year old and a very active ten month old. I used baby einstein products with my six year old when he was little not because I thought he would become a “genius” but because they were colorful, entertaining and introduced my child to the world arond him. I also used the flashcards with him and he was able to tell me what was on each card only after we went through them several times. I just started introducing my ten month old to baby einstein products and he loves them. He laughs at the puppets when they are being silly and dances when there is music playing. I don’t use baby einstein in hopes that my child will be smarter than anyother child i use them because my children enjoy them and are introduced to new things.

Sarah H. says:
I will not be seeking a refund, as this publicity stunt by Linn is absolutely ridiculous. I don’t think anyone with any intelligence buys a dvd to make their child smarter or to educate them. A DVD is purchased for entertainment value only and should be used at the discretion of the parents and never to substitute one on one instruction. All of the Baby Einstein DVD’s that I own make that very clear in the parent message. I’m not sure where she’s getting her argument, but aren’t there better things in the world to put money and effort into? She should spend so much effort and money defending the societal issues we are faced with today, not attacking a DVD that consumers willingly purchase for entertainment value.

Sarah says:
I’ve seen a little bit of what’s been in the news. I don’t understand why people would think that their kids are all of a sudden going to be geniuses because they showed them a few videos. That said, my two daughters (20 months and almost 4 years) both LOVE Baby Einstein. Even the almost-4-year-old still likes Baby Einstein. I know that there are things that they have learned from the BE videos, or at least that have been reinforced by watching the videos. I don’t think that the videos replace parental interaction, reading books, or anything like that, but I’d rather have them watch BE videos than Barney!

I am the BIGGEST Baby Einstein fan. I don’t care what those ignorant people are saying. Baby Eisntein is the best invention known to man…or shall I say, baby. My son is 1 years old and has been watching baby einstein since he was about 5 months old. I know I shouldn’t depend on it as much as I do, but I really don’t think I could have survived without it. The toys are also great! I never got the feeling that this was supposed to make my son a genius (even though he is…) I just thought it would be a good source of entertainment for him. This may sound contradicting though, but my son has learned a lot from Baby Einstein and it is the only thing he will watch. Thank you for the best baby products ever and I am on the Baby Einstein side!

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the Baby Einstein movies, my 15 month old son has been watching them since he was 6 months old, and has been in love with them since day one. He still gets excited when the movies start and the adorable, colorful caterpillar bounces across the screen. I recommend these videos to everyone I know who is pregnant or has a baby. Why would I deny my son the pure pleasure he gets out of your movies? I, also, love the movies, love the animals, the scenery, and the music. We have one of the Baby Einstein CD’s that we play in the car, and he loves that as well!
I will always stand by your company, thank you for making such beautiful products.

My adopted daughter came home from China at age 1. We used Einstein picture cards and DVDs to teach her English words. By the time she was 18 months old she knew close to 200 words and could speak in 8 to 10 word sentences. I credit BE for a lot of her knowledge.

I am a big believer that if you don’t like a product, DON’T BUY IT! Having said that, move on. We love Baby Einstein here in our home. We have a 2 1/2 yr son who just loves the videos, he asks for them by the pictures on the cover…turtle, elephant, bunny and so on and he knows if you are putting in the wrong DVD; which we find hilarious. The DVD’s are age appropriate with entertaining visual stimulation and great classical music. The DVD’s were purchased to stimulate his sensory. Anyone who thinks they can plop their child in front of a TV and let the TV do the teaching is absurd. It’s time parents start taking responsibility for the formation of their child and not leaving it to others.
We believe in the Baby Einstein and Disney products as a form of entertainment and that value it delivers is 100% what it claims.
We love Baby Einstein and Disney and thank you for your continuing evolvement and desire to nurture our children’s minds.

I have nothing but GREAT things to say about Baby Einstein! My 5 year old began watching the videos at about 3 monhs old – it was the only thing that would soothe him to sleep at night. We own every DVD and love them all. I also have a2 year old daughter who loves your DVD’s and Books. Both children knew their colors, shapes,
and numbers by one year old. My two year old hums the music and people who hear her are so surprised that she knows Beethoven and Mozart by heart. She often asks us to play her favorite – “Baby Da Vinci” – it is funny to hear her say this. Anyway, to make a long story short – I credit your DVD’s and especially books on how my children have grown. Yes, they are pretty intelligent for their ages – my Kindergartner reads on a 2nd grade level and my 2 year old already knows the letters and sounds. No, I did not buy your products because I thought they would turn my children into geniuses – I bought them because other parents highly recommended them and once bought – I was hooked. Oh! And I forgot to mention…I’m a school teacher!! Love you products…keep up the good work!!!

I never take the time to comment on much of anything in the news or on the computer, but this lawsuit has me outraged! My son has loved these dvd’s. As a parent I do not use them as a substitute to parenting but as an adjunct. We sit and he learns words and animals. The other day he was doing the sign for the word table from watching the dvd and he is 20 months old. I do now know sign language so I could never have taught him that. This just has me so angry, stupid lawsuits which is going to bankrupt America. Keep up the good work. You truely offer quality products for the age group and the subject material is, in my opinion, much more educational then half of these cartoons on television. Children should be exposed to music, culture, language, and visual stimuli. Anyone that is an intelligent parent knows how to teach their children and therefore would not have left education to a dvd. Ugh…

I love the baby einstein products my son is now two and has a great appreciation for classical music and can sing many of the melodies. Without baby einstein he probably would not have been introduced to it and that would have been a shame. I think the expectations that are set from the products are realistic and I never was under the impression that the products were going to make my child a genius but instead that they were a tool I could use to bond with my child and that is exactlywhat I used them for and my son and I also were able to benefit even further.
Thank you baby einstein and your wonderful products you sell. I would recomend them to any new parent I meet

My son learned many different values due to watching the DVD’s & interacting w/my wife & I. Yes, we watched these DVD’s w/him & no where on ANY of them was a proclaimation of the DVD’s being educational. If education is what children recieve while watching the DVD’s, great; if not, that’s fine because they are for infants/toddler entertainment!
There is NO merit in anything Susan Linn states in attacking Baby Einstien the way she has/is doing.
We love the Baby Einstein DVD’s & will be playing them for our 2nd baby due late March/early April. Thank you for the entertainment.

My son is now 4yrs old. From the age of 6 months old he watched your videos. They are wonderful. At the age of 6 months he woke up in the middle of the night screaming. Nothing seemed to sooth him. I tried everything! Finally as a last effort I turned one of the video’s on. He imediately stop crying. They are so soothing and stuimulating. As he got older he watched the one’s that taught him about animals ect.. I could point to so many things and he knew what they were from a very young age. If and when I have another child I will most definately use them again along with any new releases. Thank you so much!

I have been familar with Baby Einstein for the past 8 years. My nephew now 8 was introduced to them as a baby and loved watching the movies with his grandma. It brought the both of them close together and they had fun watching together. I now have two kids ages 16 months and 2 months old. I enjoying putting on the movies and watching them with my son he loves the time we spend together and even knows how to put the videos in so we can watch them when he wants. Not only does he like the videos/DVD’s he loves the toys you put out and the objects from the movies. Not once have I ever put my son in front of the TV to watch by himself as Julie Clark used to say at the end of the videos it is a great way for parents and children to interact with one another and to open your childs eyes to real world object. I love the time I get to spend with my kids using these products while creating memories with my children. I would like to thank you fot the memories you have helped me to create.

I’m so sorry that your company has to go through this. My family has been baby Einstein fans for 3 years now. My children love to watch these DVDs. I love that they introduce them to classical music. I also credit these DVD’s for helping me to teach my children. I found it much easier to go over numbers and shapes and baby sign language when it’s something that the child really enjoys doing. I don’t understand why people are attacking this company. These are great products! My son had a speech delay at 18 months and these DVD’s along with the matching flashcards helped me get him on the average speech development in 7 months. My daughter started using baby sign language to communicate with me at 10 months old. I can honestly say as a young stay at home mother that your products have helped me learn how to effectively teach my children and reinforce things they have been taught. Thank you for just wonderful product and keep up the good work!!!!!

We love our Baby Einstein boxed set of 22 dvds. Both our son and daughter have loved watching them at various times in their lives. I think any parent who buys a DVD in the hope that it will turn their baby into a genius needs a little education themselves. I never bought these dvds with the intention to educate my child!!! Having said that my daughter learnt her shapes at one and a half and im sure that baby newton had something to do with that!!! I will NOT be asking for a refund for my DVDS. I will keep them for my grandchildren

I have a 7 1/2 year old who was introduced to BE at about 4 months and let me tell you he AND I enjoyed the music and the pictures. I purchased 2 of the puppets and the music DVD set and he still has them. Did I think these items would make him a genius? NO!!! But it was MUCH better than having him watch some of the garbage I see on TV these days. I am so sorry that this lady is on this kick; too bad she can’t focus on other things that really are negative! My vote is for BE all the way!

I love Baby Einstein products and my daughter loves the TV serious too. However, I don’t see anything wrong with what the CCFC has done. They have challenged two companies making claims about their prodocts which cannot be substantiated. What is wrong with that? Baby Einstein produces media and toys for entertainment. Everyone is happy with them for entertainment purposes. And granted, anything (even entertainment) has the potential to be a learning experience. But I agree that no company should make claims which cannot be proven or substantiated and could be misleading for the purpose of increased sales. That is just fair, in my opinion. I am happy there are such watchdogs out there. I am a smart enough person to know that a DVD is not going to make my daughter a genius or improve her knowledge by leaps and bounds. Yet, I admit that I thought your videos would be better for her to watch than others (considering the AAP’s recommedation), so in a way I was mislead. Not that I believe any harm was done, but I did have the impression (based on the packaging and name) that Baby Einstein’s products were better for my child than other such products, even if it was just for entertainment purposes. I still believe that! But in the end, that should be my conclusion to make based on my own experiences and not a fact that the company claims without any substantiated proof.

I love your products and would continue to buy them! But I don’t see anything wrong with the CCFC asking any company, including Baby Einstein, to prove its claims or remove them.

I am appalled with this news in regards to your company. We purchased our videos in 2004 for our first born son and he was in loved with it. I truly enjoy it and then 3 years later my daughter came along and she loves it as much as my son. I have the Cd in my car and they are a life saver for me on the road they keep them calm and soothed throughout the journey on the road. I would never return your products because i truly believe that your products do help to enhance a child’s imagination. I stand by your products and I will always recommend them to any one. I love the classical music myself and i have learned whom the composers are myself, so we are all learning with Baby Einstein and Little Einstein too! You have our family support for whatever we stand by your side. We truly appreciate everyone’s work from behind the scene to make these DVD and CD happen, great job to all!!! Keep it coming!!!

I heard about the refund offered, but what for? I don’t need a refund. I am not planning to get the refund. My child and my family have enjoyed the Baby Einstein DVDs (and books, and other products), and we’ll continue to use them. Thank you for your wonderful, creative products that are a hit with children.

I feel strongly that your products are both entertaining and educational for babies and children. It is one thing to raise your child in front of the TV. And another to share in a learning or entertaintment opportunity with them. My now 2yr old son LOVES all the DVD’s. We have atleast 6 of them. And I have now borrowed out the Lullaby Time DVD to my friends or family with a new baby. And my son still to this day LOVES to fall asleep to it. And with your On the Go DVD my son was able to learn many more names of “vehicles” or things that go. Because I sat with him and interacted with him and the DVD. It’s more than putting a show on and then leaving your kid their to veg out. I would have missed so many bonding, learning and just silly times with my son if I had ever done that! So thank you so much for your products. And I support you! And my 2yr old son does too!

I just wanted to say that I love the Baby Einstein products. I have an 8 month old grandson who loves the dvd’s and I have purchased 13 dvd’s for him and 13 dvd’s for my grandson that is due to be born in November. Also I plan to purchase more. As I write this my grandson is is watching a Baby Einstein dvd with the biggest smile on his face and the puppets make him laugh which is as my son puts it “the best sound in the whole world”. So keep putting out those dvd’s because your loyal customers are not going anywhere!

Baby Einstein is a god sent. My daughter is 1 1/2 yrs old and she has been watching the videos since she was 3mo old. Even now it is the ONLY thing that will keep her attention. She LOVES it! When she gets tired, she goes and grabs her pooh bear, bink and than come over to me so we can watch together than nap time. She recognizes things in real life from learning it from your videos. Honestly I would gladly pay twice what you sell you products for because they are actually good. People are always looking for angles to screw other people espeacially the good people and good companys.

I want to add my support for the Baby Einstein Company. I have a 2yr old girl and a 6mo. old boy. Both have enjoyed the entire collection since birth. In fact we also own “Your baby can read” and my girl has learned so much more from BE. My boy is enthralled by the images. I never expected that these images/programs would create a genius child. I did expect that their minds would be filled with lovely images of the world around them. I did expect for my kids to be introduced to music and images that are new to them. The BE Co. has meet and has exceeded every expectation that I had of them. These “products” are supplemental to the education that I provide to my children. These discs are part of my children’s routine and they are better kids for the experience that BE has helped me provide to them. I am offended frankly that anyone would try and tarnish what BE has become to my children and our family. I take these attacks personally as well. In fact, I think I’ll go out and purchase more BE products! Thank you and keep up the great work. I look forward to more!

The lawyers and media have taken this way out of hand. The Baby Einstein co. is wonderfu and my children LOVED every single one of them. I NEVER thought ONCE that it would make them a genius. It was an enjoyable and educational activity that we watched a couple times a day. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Keep up the good work and tell the media to ‘get a life!’ I will not be returning the dvds. I love them too much!! And, when my kids are older, I will give them to another mother, father, and kids who will appreciate them!

Usually, I just read the articles and say nothing, but this has gone way too far. I even have other moms in my town’s “mommy group” arguing with me. Too often this society looks for a scapregoat in order to displace their inadequacies. This country has become far too litigious. I do not know any parent, myself and husband included, that has bought a Baby Einstein product with the intent of creating mini geniuses. We have purchased these products with the intent of soothing, stimulating, and entertaining our child. If other parents feel they are doing a disservice in having their child watch these dvds, well then do not buy them. However, it is greatly offensive to try and convince other parents that allowing our children to watch Baby Einstein is a mistake. Every parent has a choice. We choose to sit and watch Baby Einstein with our children. They may choose otherwise.
I’d also like to point out, that in the majority of the Baby Einstein dvds, there is a section showing parents how to reinforce what was watched. They show how to intoduce new sounds, and words, and also the importance of spending time with your child. No where does it say, “We promise these dvds will make your child a wunderkid.” If you want your child to learn, THEN TEACH YOUR CHILD YOURSELF.
I for one will not be looking for a refund. Our family will continue to enjoy Baby Einstein products, and we will continue to reinforce what is watched in those dvds through storytime, conversation hour, flashcards, playtime, and our little dance parties. Thank you Baby Einstein for introducing us to a new way of learning. You have our family’s support!

Give up my cherished BE DVDs??? YOUR CRAZY! Our household uses BE products as tools eveyday to help our children lean about real life music, art, nature and animals! Your products are amazing and it is a shame that this is happening.
It’s not like your trying to sell sugar and saying its vegtables! The worst part of this entire drama is that your products ARE amazing and far superior to most other fast paced, shoot em up lazer beam over the top crap toys and DVDs that are out these days!
I’ll keep my BE items and would buy them all over again!

I was very sad to hear the reports attacking Baby Einstein products. I am a proud mom of a boy (5) and girl (3) and am not ashamed at all to say that I used Baby Einstien videos during my kids early childhood years. I feel that these videos helped introduce the wonderful world of music and imagination to them in a way that I honestly dont feel that I could have. Both of my children still love to pull those videos out of the cabinet once in awhile and we all curl up and talk about what we see and hear. I really wish that EVERYONE would just focus on what the most imporatant piece of raising a child is… LOVE. Let them watch tv or not, let them color or not, let them eat sweets or not but dont attack others for doing it differently. Just make sure there is LOVE!!!

Christina says:
First let me start by saying that I believe your products are wonderful and offer visual stimulation and a creative and imaginative way for children to develop their imaginations. Your videos offer children the opportunity to view a program in which everything is geared towards positive learning. Your music is uplifting and soothing depending upon which type you are listening to. What scares me is that parents out there actually believe that there is any product that “with the snap of a finger” can create little genius children. Those parents are outrageous and to be quite honest are unfit to be parents because they are the ones who will just plop their children in front of the television and expect them to learn. It’s no wonder our society has become over run with lazy people who want everyone else to figure things out for them. I believe in your products and it just is a testament to your company that there are so many parents out there who love your products and will continue to back them. Hope fully the rest of the parents out there will start to take time with their children and not rely on a product to be the parent for them.

I have two children, a 2-year-old boy and a 9-month- old girl. When my son was 6 month old, he got Baby MacDonald as a present from a relative and there we fell in love with Baby Einstein. I don’t want my children to be the new Albert Enstein, but I really appreciate the way they learn to recognise classical music through the dvds. Besides, we are from Argentina and I always choose English in the language menu, as a result my son recognises words in English and tries to pronounce them.
Now he a big fan of Little Einsteins too!
The ammount and quality of tv our children watch is something we, parents, must administrate. I choose Baby and Little Einstein… And we enjoy it as a family!
Cheers,
María

Please don’t let this suit bring you down. I have a 9,7, and 6 year old, and I take care of little ones. I have recommended these videos to anyone who will listen for the last nine years. I enjoyed giving my children a VERY child friendly show to watch. My babies would kick there feet and wave their arms at a very young age to the music and pictures. We own many of your videos, and we have rummaged many baby items. These videos will never lose there place in our home.

Even though my son, Eric, is now 9 years old I had to comment on the recent defamation of the Baby Einstein products since we had a very unique and wonderful experience with the series. Eric began watching Baby Einstein videos when he was just two months old and he became OBSESSED with them as he grew older. Like most new parents we wanted to nurture our child’s interest so over time we eventually bought him ALL of the Baby Einstein books, flash cards, videos, and CDs and even had doubles of each. By the age of one, Eric could recognize the Baby Einstein logo and video covers wherever we went and at that time they were selling EVERYWHERE! It was also at this time that Eric began carrying around the video cassette cases like a security blanket. We even found ourselves lamenting them to stay in tact. (We were extremely happy when the DVDs came out since the cases were pretty indestructible). He actually became a walking advertisement for the Baby Einstein company since he was constantly approached by strangers asking him what he was carrying. And just like a security blanket, when one of his covers accidentally went missing my husband and I went through great lengths to replace it. At a very early age Eric started to display advanced intellectual abilities. Even though Eric wasn’t talking yet, at the age of 18 months Eric could point to and recognize letters in the alphabet (upper and lower case), shapes, colors, and numbers 1-20. He could also recognize 100-200 words from the Baby Einstein flash cards without pictures by sight. We discovered almost accidentally that Eric could recognize words when my husband was reading one of the Baby Einstein books and he had asked Eric to point to the baby owl on the page. To his surprise, Eric pointed to the “word” owlet instead of to the picture like my husband assumed. He proceeded to do the same for the other eight words on the page. Eric taught himself how to read at the age of three.
At the age of four Eric would research online all the toys shown on the videos and find out where they could be bought. Before we knew it, we had shelves lined with all the toys from the videos. Eric even organized binders with the toys so he knew which toy was in each video!
Early on we observed that Eric exhibited outstanding artistic abilities starting with his first drawings at the age of two of “Mozart Bear” and “Bunny Bach.” Incidentally, those were the first words that Eric could spell without looking. Eric and my husband would draw the Baby Einstein video covers and the unique toys in the videos for many hours a day. Today, Eric has a real passion for artwork both famous and his own. I’m sure it’s no surprise to you that Van Gogh is one of his favorite artists! Starting at the age of three, Eric would regularly reproduce Van Gogh’s art with great detail. When we visited the National Museum of Art, Eric who was six years old at the timewas able to name the Van Gogh paintings by title as well as identify art by many other renowned artists
In addition, Eric is also musically gifted. During his toddler years he would listen to the Baby Einstein classical music CDs and he was soon able to identify the composer when he would hear a song. By the age of four he expressed to us that he wanted to play drums. Soon after buying Eric a starter drum kit, my husband and I would be shocked to hear him play drums that imitated the music he had listened to. Over time we learned that Eric had a natural ability to play drums (mainly by ear). He is currently enrolled at the School of Rock in Vienna where he practices with different bands and performs in concerts. My husband and I are 100% confident Eric’s early academic success and current interests were directly linked to the Baby Einstein products. We will continue to recommend these great products to everyone we know.

When I first heard this on the news, I thought they can’t be talking about the Baby Einstein that my daughter grew up on. We got our first video when she was just 6 months old as a gift and let me tell you, you could not walk in front of the tv while she was watching!! We had other “baby videos” and they could not hold her interest. She is now 9 and she is a very bright little girl. An still today we talk about the videos how it has helped her in so many ways!! So shame on the media!!

The definition of “Education” is:
the activities of educating or instructing; activities that impart knowledge or skill;
knowledge acquired by learning and instruction;
the gradual process of acquiring knowledge;
Now correct me if I am wrong, but if my child watches these videos, and learns to point out and say the objects when he encounters them in his life – wouldn’t that mean he learned something from this? Wouldn’t that mean he has aquired knowledge for objects and/or animals? Wouldn’t that, in fact, mean he has been educated by Baby Einstein?

Baby Einstein has been a part of my children’s lives. They are now 6 and 2 and HAVE learned from the DVD’s and books. I work with medically fragile children and both of my girls can sign to the children I work with after learning basic ASL through Baby Einstein videos. Futhermore, they enjoy and have grown to enjoy classical music through the CD’s. Seeing their little faces light up when they discover new animals on the DVD’s is a wonderful thing. Thank you for the enjoyment and positive learning that my children have discovered.

I just heard the news yesterday from my mother who told me to look it up and find out what was going on. Well from what I’m reading from the internet and from moms comments, its all a scam to make the product look bad and Disney looked down upon. Like I said in the othercomment post parents are just being lazy and looking for someone to blame beside themself. My now 10 month old, Jeremiah, Loves the movies and knows what coming on and what it is and says it, because I just didnt sit him in front of the movies and expect him to know what the colors, shpaes, or objects where. You have to sit with your child and teach them and repeat it and show them with sight and words. All the fuss over your movies is BULL to me and I Love them and will continue to buy them. Thank you for a wonderful product.

The music is great.. my son is very musical.. talks alot and has hit his age appropiate milsetones just fine, they are brillant and the kids love them.. which means of course unless your crazy .. parents love them to.

I started my 2 1/2 yo watching baby einstien movies at around 3 months. I didn’t purchase them to expect my child to be a “genius” however I purchased them to introduce my child to shapes, counting, animals, colors etc. My son loves these movies, I own every movie that has been made. Still at the age of 2 1/2 he loves them, he watches one alomost everyday. I feel he has learned so much from these movies and he enjoys them. He will sing along and tell me what is coming next b/c we have watched them so much. I was shocked to hear about this and very disappointed that this news may discourage to purchase these videos for their children b/c they really are very educational and worth every penny I spent on them. Thank you for creating such these movies I will continue to buy these products and encourage other parents to do the same.

I must say that I Love your products and I know my son loves them. He has been using and viewing your products since he was several months old, just turned 3 and still loves to watch the DVD’s. I think that the CCFC have nothing better to do with their time than to attack products that I think are beneficial for both parents and children. I also think that parents who believe that any product is going to turn their child into a “genius”, is a little off. Children need to have interaction with the family and parents for growth to occur and I feel that your products have allowed that to occur. For anyone to assume that they can pop in a video and there child is going to learn is wrong, but if you sit with your child and talk or explain what’s going on within the video, then they learn. My son has learned to count, say his ABC’s, has learned shapes and other thing with the help of your videos and with the help of his parents. THANK YOU for the GREAT WORK that you do and keep it up!!!

We love your products and wish you the best in dealing with this situation. For one, no parent should ever rely on a book, dvd, etc. to be the teacher of their children. That’s what we as parents are for. A dvd, book, etc. should only be used as a resource in the learing process. Your product is a wonderful resource that we use and will continue to use with our son. The day we count on a resource to do the work for us is the day we fail our son. Keep up the great work. We will not be returning our dvd’s for a refund, exchange or whatever is being offered.

I am as frustrated as you.
I found Baby Einstein 10 years ago (VHS version if that says anything!) with my oldest son. It gave me a time to take a shower and get dressed in the morning. I later found out how much he was learning from the songs etc. I even heard some songs that I had not heard since I was a toddler, which created a bonding time between us.
I later continued it with my daughter, who also loved it (only 8 years ago).
Now their baby brother (6 months) and the older two have a special time sitting, playing and chatting about one of their favorite videos of all time. It has really brought them all together. With the new Baby Einstein DVDs (YEAH!), they are able to expand their knowledge in a way that their little brother can relate to and learn from.
The product never said it would make any of the genius, but I have to say they both are in their school’s gifted program. It isn’t about the learning, it is about the bonding (unlike some copycat products).
Tell the government/media to get over it. It is time to spend with your child, not time to insert a DVD and have that babysit the kid (though sometimes, it is necessary!).

Susan Linn needs to get her head examined. I let my 3 month old watch and she has since she was a month old. Sometimes mom’s just need a little peace from baby to get other things done (like eat), and baby einstein provides entertainment that baby likes to watch. It is simple, colourful and has new sounds. It is much better for her to be watching baby einstein then the shows I enjoy or the cartoons that are on tv today.

Children from my daycare participated in the filming of educational videos in the mid-90’s. We then used the videos in conjunction with teacher interaction and saw marked improvement in language skills development in the boys and an increase in curiosity in the girls. As a mother I am proud to say my daughters are both now certified teachers. Baby Einstein product made learning fun. My three year old grandson is reading fluently and loves numbers and explores advanced concepts all of the time. Over the past two decades I have defended educational products when used with the proper adult interaction and will continue to do so. I think it is shameful to ask for a refund that has yielded such phenomenal results. When used as advised I believe these products are great and enhance a child’s visual and auditory discrimination skills. I think the proof is in the pudding. Its too bad that some parents think you can buy a video and expect it to babysit your child (teaching them in the process).

I have purchased many Baby Einstein DVDs, CDs and other toy products for my daughter. She has loved and enjoyed every single one. The music, colors and animals have made such an impression on her. She is now 20 months and still giggles when I play one for her. Although I never intended for her to learn from the DVDs, she actually learned sign language from the “my first signs” video. We love your products and will continue to buy them. If people don’t like them, then they don’t have to buy them. It is too bad that sometimes “free country” means that people sometimes take advantage of their right to talk and try to derail what they don’t like. I certainly hope you weather this unpleasant storm.

Please stop showing Baby Einstein to your kids. Do the research — University of Washing did and they discovered that watching these DVDs inhibited language development. The Amercian Academy of Pediatrics recommends no screen time for kids under the age of two for a reason! Turn off the screen and play with your kids — it’s the best way to help your child. Disney is all about making money, they’re not in this to help our children.

My husband is quite ill, has been in the hospita for 2 months now. As pre-occupied as I am, I just had to speak up and ‘defend’ your product.
My sister notified me of ‘the refund available’ for all Baby Einstein DVDs/videos. I replied to her email stating: “I am actually one of the Baby Einstein fans. I swear by them! I think they are a wonderful teaching tool (as are your books and cards!!)- they are the root of Katerina’s (our 4 1/2 year old daughter’s) level of intelligence. Truly. She began to learn about the planets, art, musicians/music (classical), seasons, numbers, animals and their sounds (and where in the world they live), shapes, ALL the musical instruments she knows, she picked up from their tapes… I may have taken things to the next level, but, Baby Einstein gave me the point in the right direction. Katerina still asks to see them a number of times a week. I must admit, I do have them hidden. There are only a handful of them which I continue to show her. I have always said: Baby Einstein (or any TV for that matter) is not intended to be a babysitter. If the parent sits, and uses them appropriately, as with any program, children can learn so much more!”
Keep doing what you do best!!!
i am so disappointed to hear this news…
